What ExpatVoice is

ExpatVoice is an independent civic initiative for the people who legally live, work, study, raise families and pay taxes in Malta, and who do not always feel they have a say in it.

We are not a political party. We are not a protest movement. We are not a campaign against anyone.

We are a platform to help residents understand their rights, use them, and be heard in the country they now call home.

Why it exists

Practical civic information for expats in Malta is scattered — across offices, websites, languages and unwritten rules that everyone seems to know except you.

Most foreign residents do not know:

• whether they can vote — and many who can, don’t know it
• who decides the things that affect their street
• where to raise a problem, or what happens after they do
• what they are entitled to, and what they are not

ExpatVoice exists to close that gap. Not by complaining about it, but by publishing what is actually true — and by helping people act on it.

Who is behind it

ExpatVoice was founded and is run by Cristiano Blanco, an Italian who has lived in Malta since 2017 — a foreign resident, like the people this initiative exists for.

He is also a professional journalist, and CEO and partner of an iGaming company in Malta. He is the founder of ResidenteAllEstero.com, a commercial media portal for Italians living abroad, and of GoCV.ai.

None of these businesses has any role in ExpatVoice, any access to its data, or any influence over what it publishes. We say this here, plainly, rather than leave you to find it out from someone else.

How we work — the three commitments that make us different

🔒 We cannot read your reports. That is deliberate.

When you send us a report about discrimination, your employer, your landlord or your residence status, it is encrypted in your browser before it reaches us. The key that opens it exists on no server.

Our hosting provider cannot read it. Their AI tools cannot read it. Their infrastructure suppliers cannot read it. If our database were stolen tomorrow, the thief would get nothing but noise.

Our reporting form is anonymous by default. We do not ask for your name.

We built it this way because the people with the most important things to tell us are the people with the most to lose by telling us.

📝 We use AI to draft. We never use AI to decide what is true.

Our guides are drafted with AI assistance — and we say so, because most publishers who do this don’t.

Every factual claim is traced to an official source before it is published. Every guide carries the date it was last verified and a link to the source it was verified against. A guide without both cannot be published — the system refuses it.

When we get something wrong, we correct it publicly and say so.

💶 We are entirely self-funded. Zero external funding.

Total external funding received to date: €0.

No donors. No sponsors. No grants. No political backers. No corporate money.

And we have already ruled out the money we will never take: political parties and foreign governments. Every other supporter — individuals, companies, foundations, institutions, EU programmes — is welcome under three conditions: named publicly with the amount before the money is used, no influence over what we publish, and no access to anyone’s data.

Your personal data will never be sold, shared or used commercially. That commitment is permanent, and it survives any change of ownership.

We are not affiliated with, funded by, or aligned to any political party, candidate or political movement — in Malta or anywhere else.

Our work is civic, not electoral: we help people understand their rights, use them, and be heard where they live.

Formal enrolment as a Voluntary Organisation under the Voluntary Organisations Act (Chapter 492 of the Laws of Malta), so this initiative outlives its founder and belongs to its community.
