Expat Electoral Registration Day

A practical, non-partisan information event to help expats in Malta understand local participation, electoral registration and how to engage with local councils.

Planned initiative, date and venue to be announced

ExpatVoice is independent and non-partisan. We are not affiliated with, funded by, or aligned to any political party, candidate or political movement.

We take positions on issues, never on parties. Where a proposal, a law or an initiative would advance the rights of foreign residents in Malta, we will say so publicly and we will engage with it — whoever is proposing it. We will work with anyone who is working on the same thing, and we will criticise anyone who is working against it, regardless of their politics.

Our rule is simple: whatever we do for one party, we will do for any other, on the same terms. We do not lend our name, our logo or our community to any party's campaign, but we will always show up where the rights of foreign residents are being discussed.

What it is

A public, welcoming day of clear explanations, Q&A, community conversations and a friendly space to ask any question, no matter how basic.

Organised by ExpatVoice. We are an independent civic initiative and we currently have no institutional partners, if that changes, we will say so here, by name.

Why it matters

Many expats in Malta are eligible to participate in local civic life but do not know where to start. This event closes that gap constructively.

Who it is for

  • EU and non-EU expats living in Malta
  • International families and students
  • Maltese residents interested in inclusion
  • NGOs, employers and local councils

What people will learn

  • What local councils actually do
  • How electoral registration works in Malta
  • How to raise issues that affect your locality
  • Where to verify official information

How volunteers can help

  • Welcoming attendees on the day
  • Helping people find the right official source in their own language
  • Helping with logistics and set-up
  • Sharing the event in their community

Our volunteers do not interpret electoral rules or advise anyone on their eligibility. They help people find the official information and point them to the Electoral Commission (2558 3000). Getting someone's voting rights wrong, even with the best intentions, causes real harm.

Organisations

Are you an organisation interested in supporting this initiative? Please read our Transparency & Funding page first, it explains our rules: every supporter is named publicly, no supporter influences what we publish, and no supporter ever gets access to anyone's data.
